Botanical Garden

Approximately eight thousand species of flowers and plants in Brazil and the world adorn the alleys of the garden, created by King John VI in 1808. The palms of the imperial era of the foundation stand out in the landscape, just as the rose garden and pond with water lilies. Among the areas most visited are the greenhouse with orchids and insectivorous plants, with over three thousand specimens of 600 species. The park also houses the sensory garden, designed specifically for people with visual disabilities – there are inscriptions in Braille and the selected plants can be played.
